Four people have been arrested in connection with an armed dacoity at the Ahmedabad railway station yard, said the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Thursday, adding that the fifth accused is absconding. The police identified the accused as Asif Faridkhan Pathan, Ayyubhussain Arifhussain Qureshi, Sikandar Mustakim Shaikh, Aamir Firozkhan Pathan and Salman Safiuddin Shaikh. According to a GRP statement, Shaikh is yet to be caught. According to police, the accused have been booked for dacoity under Section 310 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) because of the way they entered the government premises, threatened people and stole goods and vehicles totalling Rs 29.565 lakh on October 8. According to the FIR, the accused had “allegedly hatched a criminal conspiracy and in the commission of said conspiracy, arrived at the Ahmedabad railway station yard on October 8 between 9 and 9.30 am, armed with sharp weapons”. They entered the parcel office and stole eight garment packages worth Rs 4.365 lakh, a tempo worth Rs1 lakh, a Bolero pickup truck worth Rs 12 lakh, imitation jewellery worth Rs 6.2 lakh, and an Eicher truck worth Rs 6 lakh, totalling Rs 29.565 lakh. During the probe, the GRP formed several teams, identified the accused and arrested four of them.
