Ahmedabad Municipal School Board launches ‘Alumni Connect’ scheme to reconnect with former students
The scheme aims to reconnect with former students and establish a comprehensive alumni repository spanning 100 years

The Ahmedabad Municipal School Board has introduced the ‘Alumni Connect’ scheme, aiming to reconnect with former students and establish a comprehensive alumni repository spanning 100 years. As part of its centennial celebrations, the Municipal Corporation will match funds contributed by each alumnus.
As documented, the first board meeting of the Ahmedabad School Board was held on April 1,1925 by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
“In the last 100 years, many students have studied here, many of whom are successful in various fields. The Alumni Connect scheme has been launched to trace and connect with these former students of municipal schools. It has been decided that an equal amount of grant will be given to the municipal school by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) matching up with the alumni’s fund,” Ahmedabad Municipal School Board Administrative Officer L D Desai told The Indian Express.
Coinciding with the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board will dedicate the centenary year of the Municipal School Board Ahmedabad, by paying tribute to him, said sources. The authorities will provide 30 hours of CPD (Continuous Professional Development) training to all the teachers and organise workshops in all 453 municipal schools. During these workshops, a total of 5202 teachers and all 1,71,785 students will have exposure to experiments based on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), said sources.
“Out of 1.71 lakh students, 25,000 from the best 60 schools will be part of the visits at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar,” AMC school board chairman Sujay Mehta added. During the centennial celebration, ‘Best 100 Centenary Anupam Schools’ will be selected from the existing 453 schools and will be awarded with prize money and certificates, said sources.
