The Ahmedabad Rural Police arrested a prominent builder after his minor son was booked in a hit-and-run incident, where a 34-year-old security guard was run over by a luxury Mercedes Sedan. Ahmedabad Rural SP Om Prakash Jat confirmed the arrest of the builder, whose name is withheld to protect his son's identity. The son, aged 17 years and eight months old, was illegally driving the vehicle on Saturday night, causing an accident in Ahmedabad’s Bopal area which killed Govind Singh. Meanwhile, the son was given immediate bail on Tuesday, on grounds of his upcoming BBA examination, by Ahmedabad’s Juvenile Justice Board. Several teams of the police had been deployed to apprehend the Ahmedabad-based builder following the case against him as he had not been found at home. However, about 12 hours later, the builder was arrested on Thursday morning. The builder had been booked as a co-accused in the case after a local court granted the police leave to do so. The builder was named as a co-accused in the FIR under section 199(a) of the Motor Vehicles Act on Wednesday.
