Aether fire: Another worker dies, death toll at 10

One more labourer who was injured in the Aether Industries fire accident succumbed to his burns Thursday. With this, the death toll in the accident has risen to 10, while 13 labourers are still admitted to two private hospitals in Surat.

The deceased has been identified as Manoj Mukhiya (34), a resident of Sachin GIDC and a native of Uttar Pradesh. He had incurred 70 per cent burn injuries and was undergoing treatment at Apple Hospital in Udhna. The body has been sent to New Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

Mukhiya’s death comes after Chitranjan Yadav (34), who had incurred over 60 per cent burn injuries, passed away on Sunday.

Among the thirteen labourers who are still undergoing treatment at different hospitals, Balram Bega (30), Narendra Pathak (36) and Munnalal Yadav (22) are reported to be critical.

The Sachin police filed a case of accidental death after the fire.
