Three weeks after being named an accused in the Tulsiram Prajapati encounter case, suspended IPS officer Rajkumar Pandian has written to state CID (crime) claiming he was not involved in the encounter. He is,though, yet to be questioned by the CID,which is probing the case.
State CID (crime) DIG B S Jebalia said,We will investigate the points he has raised and then question him. We will challenge him on the questions he has put before us.
In his application to the CID,Pandian has said he cannot be named an accused only on the basis of his phone call records. Pandian says his phone was on interception and he has not spoken to any police officer or the minister. He has asked the CID to get his phone records from ATS and prove if he played a role in this encounter, a CID officer said.
Pandians call records with the state CID (crime) show him talking to former MoS (Home) Amit Shah 92 times from his phone number 919427306077. Call durations were of a minimum of 30 minutes to maximum an hour or more and were made between September 2006 and January 2007.
Pandian has also said he could not be named as an accused in the Prajapati encounter case chargesheet without his questioning. He claimed the CID has no concrete proof.
The CID (crime) investigations show Pandian as one of conspirators in the case who kept a watch on Prajapatis location before his encounter. He was also said to be in constant touch with Rajasthan IPS officer Dinesh MN who had asked him to track.
The state CID (crime) had in its chargesheet filed in Danta Court on July 30 had named Pandian an accused in the case.
