The name of godmother Santokben Jadeja’s son,Kandhal Jadeja, has surfaced in the Datar rape and murder case.

The name of godmother Santokben Jadeja’s son,Kandhal Jadeja, has surfaced in the Datar rape and murder case. Hamir Gohil and Mahesh Chauhan, the prime accused arrested two years after the crime, have now named Kandhal for providing them shelter while they were on the run. The police are now trying to find out where Kandhal had given them shelter and if Santokben knew about it. Incidentally,Kandhal is untraceable.

Meanwhile, the identification parade of the accused was conducted on Tuesday evening before the Junagadh executive magistrate. According to the investigation officer, the rape victim has identified the culprits. The police now intend to conduct narco analysis test and brain mapping on the duo.

Following this revelation,a Junagadh police team has headed for Rajkot to investigate it further, said Junagadh Superintendent of Police Maninder Singh Puwar.

According to Puwar, the accused have named Kandhal, but not divulged Santokben’s role,if any,in this regard. “The accused are hardcore criminals and are hiding many things. So,the police will conduct their narco analysis and brain mapping tests within a week or two,” he said, adding,“Police investigation is concentrated in a certain direction. It matters who has sheltered them – when and where.”

Kandhal had escaped from police custody in February 2007,while undergoing treatment in a private hospital. He is wanted in a number of cases.

Meanwhile,Puwar has constituted a special team to be headed by DySP M P Patel to investigate the case. “After committing the crime, two accused had destroyed evidence like blood stained clothes and the knife they used to kill the girl. The investigating team along with accused has visited the said place where evidence was destroyed. The police have registered a panchnama (spot assessment) in this regard and we are trying to find more evidence,” said Patel.
