Accused in BSF personnel’s custodial death go absconding

R P Chaudhary,the Deputy Superintendent of Vadodara Rural Police said the accused — including Sub Inspector H M Chauhan — are neither at their homes nor have been seen by the villagers.

“Our officers have looked for them everywhere including their homes; but,the sub-inspector and nine others have gone into hiding,” said Chaudhary.

An officer said that with the progress of the judicial inquiry,they will soon be declared wanted in the case.

Chaudhary said all the accused policemen are from different areas in Vadodara,except for Chauhan,who is from Panchmahals district.

Meanwhile,Rashik Rathwa,the sarpanch of Hamirpura village said that BSF officers from Kolkata visited Kwant last week to meet the family of the deceased. “The officers visited the family and gave 15,000 to Noora’s wife,” added Rathwa.

On July 17,around 200 villagers from Hamirpura had surrounded the Kwant police station after the accused policemen allegedly killed Noora Rathwa in custody. Following the incident,the Collector of Vadodara ordered a judicial inquiry into the killing.
