The Talala police have arrested six people on charges of rioting following a clash between the members of two castes at Ambalash village in Talala taluka of Junagadh on Wednesday. The clash took place between the members of ahir and devipoojak communities over incidents of thefts. The police said that a couple of thefts were reported from the village within a week, which resulted into the clash. They added that adequate force has been deployed in the village to prevent further violence. Jagmal Ahir,a resident of Ambalash, later lodged a complaint with the police in which he accused Lalji Bachu Devipoojak and seven others of attacking the villagers with handmade explosives, which is generally used for poaching. Based on the complaint, the police booked eight people under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for rioting and physical assault, and later arrested six of them on Thursday. Sub Inspector R P Gharsandiya, who is investigating the case, said the arrested persons will be produced before a local court on Friday. Strict vigil is being maintained in the village and the situation is under control, he added. He further said that no case was filed under the Explosives Act,as the material used was not very destructive in nature. It was potash-like material meant for killing small animals, he added.
