4 killed as pipes roll off truck in Surendranagar

Four persons were killed and three others were injured after heavy steel pipes fell off a truck-trailer and rolled over them on National Highway 8 in Limdi town of Surendrangar on Tuesday.

The truck-trailer carrying steel pipes overturned while negotiating a traffic junction in Limdi at 9:15 am. As the trailer turned on its side, pipes rolled off it and fell on the victims who were standing on the roadside. The pipes also damaged an auto-rickshaw and a van, police said.

The victims were identified as Dipak Makwana of Gondal; Chandrika Makwana and Mahendra Chavda of Rajkot, and Kanaiya Dalwadi of Limdi. Police said that three other persons who were injured in the incident were hospitalised.
