3 Vadodara science students make it to state merit list

Aarti,who had bagged the seventh spot in the state in her SSC exams,said,“I was sure that I would do good in the exams and find place among the city toppers.”

Anchal,on the other hand,had missed a place in the top 10 in her SSC exams by two marks. “All my efforts have paid this year,as I have made it to the toppers’ list,” said Anchal,who wants to become a computer engineer. “My name is there in the extended merit list of IIT-JEE results. If I can’t make it through IIT this time,I am sure to be there next year,” she added.

In the commerce stream,Vishal Mochi from Sardar Vallabhbai Vidyalaya,son of a tailor,topped the city with 93.29 per cent,which saw him on the fourth position in the state. Vishal aspires to become a chartered accountant.

Riddhi Gupte,from Maharani Kanya Vidyalaya,stood seventh in commerce in the district. Riddhi,who was conferred President Balshree Award two years ago,wants to become an IAS officer,the reason being: “I was invited by the Chief Minister’s Office to speak at Kanya Kelvani programme. I had made notes after a thorough research. However,there was a lady,who took away all my material and spoke on that,while I was given only one hour to speak. I want to stop that.”

She added,“Even to obtain birth and death certificates,we have to stand in big queue,I have witnessed that myself.”

Among the 23 students in science stream,who figure in the top 10 city list,10 are girls. In the commerce top 10 list,13 are girls and four are boys.
