A 21-year-old man died on Sunday in Vadodara after sustaining a neck injury due to a kite string. He was among the 38 patients wheeled into emergency at the city's SSG Hospital while flying kites on the day of Uttrayan on Sunday. Among the 38, a total of 25 sustained injuries on the neck, shoulders, and limbs, including eight minors. In 24 hours, between 8 am on Sunday and 8 am on Monday, the hospital treated 38 patients, including two females, for various injuries sustained during kite flying. Around 25 people sustained crushed and lacerated wounds (CLW) - mostly on the neck, ears, face, shoulders and limbs - while some others sustained head injuries and one patient also reported for burns sustained from a falling flying sky lantern. One of the injured, Ankit Vasava, 21, was "brought dead with a CLW on the front of the neck". Among those who sustained CLW over the neck, include a two-year-old as well as a 77-year-old female while an 8-year-old sustained a head injury from a fall.
