ABOUT Siddharth

Siddharth: A Versatile Actor's Journey Through South Indian Cinema Siddharth Suryanarayan, or Siddharth, a prominent figure in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema, has carved a niche for himself through diverse roles and contributions beyond acting. Born April 17, 1979, his career trajectory showcases a blend of commercial success and critical acclaim. After a business management degree, Siddharth’s cinematic journey began with assisting Mani Ratnam. His debut in Shankar's Boys (2003) launched his career, leading to roles in Mani Ratnam's Aayutha Ezhuthu (2004). He gained pan-Indian recognition through Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (2005), Rang De Basanti, and Bommarillu (2006). The late 2000s saw Siddharth solidify his position as a bankable Telugu star. He then made deliberate choices regarding projects, garnering praise for his portrayal of a carrom player in Striker (2010) and a blind warrior in Anaganaga O Dheerudu (2011). A return to Tamil cinema yielded the successful production Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi (2012). 2014 proved a landmark year, with critical and commercial success in Jigarthanda (as an aspiring filmmaker) and Kaaviya Thalaivan (as a 1920s Madras theatre actor). Subsequent films include Aranmanai 2 (2016) and the Malayalam venture Kammara Sambhavam (2018). His recent works encompass Sivappu Manjal Pachai and Aruvam (both 2019). Siddharth's filmography reflects a commitment to diverse roles and his contributions extend to screenwriting, production, and playback singing. He is a recipient of three Filmfare Awards South and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award.
