According to reports, Danish was involved in stone-pelting incidents at Handwara in 2016. Sources said that while most boys who join militancy become disllusioned by the 'gun', they are unable to escape or surrender as they face continued threat from local commanders.

The chairmen of both factions of Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and JKLF chief Yasin Malik – had asked people to reach Tral in south Kashmir's Pulwama district in large numbers today to pay tributes to the slain militants.

The restrictions were in place in the districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian – all in south Kashmir, while similar curbs also continued in seven police station areas in Srinagar and in Sopore township in north Kashmir, officials said.

The restrictions following the Kashmir bandh called by separatist Hurriyat in view of the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sabzar Bhat and imposition of curfew like restrictions by police and security forces in parts of the Valley to check violence incident.

The news of Bhat’s death triggered protests and stone-pelting across the Valley. A protester was killed in Tral and over 60 others were injured as security forces fired bullets and pellets in several places in South Kashmir.
