Pankaj Choudhary

Born on December 15, 1964, in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, Pankaj Choudhary began his political career with the BJP at a young age. His early involvement in politics paved the way for his long-standing career as a public representative.

Choudhary was first elected to the 10th Lok Sabha in 1991, marking the beginning of his parliamentary journey. He successfully contested the elections again and got elected to the 11th Lok Sabha in 1996 and the 12th Lok Sabha in 1998. However, his winning streak was interrupted in the 1999 general elections when he lost to Akhilesh Singh of the Samajwadi Party.

Undeterred by the setback, Pankaj Choudhary made a comeback in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, regaining his seat from Maharajganj. However, in the 2009 elections, he faced defeat again, this time to the Indian National Congress candidate Harsh Vardhan.

However, in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Pankaj Choudhary reclaimed his position as the MP from Maharajganj, winning by a significant margin. His victory was part of the BJP's strong performance in Uttar Pradesh, where the party won a majority of the seats.

Choudhary continued his winning streak in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, retaining his seat from Maharajganj for the second consecutive term. He defeated his nearest rival from the Samajwadi Party, reaffirming his strong presence in the constituency and his party's dominance in the state.

In 2021, he became Union Minister of State (Finance) in the Second Modi ministry after the Cabinet reshuffle.
