"Current Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammed Rizwan made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in April 2015 but has yet to play in an ODI World Cup match. He was taken as a back-up player to the UK in 2019 when Pakistan suffered a group-stage exit. This year, however, Rizwan will be the first name on the team sheet as the Men in Green travel to India to play the 2023 World Cup. The swashbuckling batter has played 59 ODIs and scored 1,431 runs with a high score of 115 against Australia in 2018/19. He has 2 centuries and 9 50s in this format.
Statistically, 2023 has been Rizwan’s best ODI year when he averages 68.60 with a strike rate of 94.75. While he opens the batting for Pakistan in T20Is, Rizwan often finds himself batting at No.4 in the ODI set-up. He has played for sides like Lahore Qalandars, Sylhet Sixers, Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Comilla Victorians and Vancouver Knights, to name a few.
One-day memory: (115 vs Australia at Sharjah, 2019)
Rizwan scored his maiden ODI century against Australia in the second game of the 2019 series but was unable to help his side to victory as Aussie captain Aaron Finch scored 153. Rizwan scored his 115 off 126 balls with the help of 11 fours.
One more thing: Rizwan is a huge fan of Australian legend Adam Gilchrist and is also an ardent fan of the Brazil football team. He is also known to carry a medicated pillow with him everywhere, something that he would explain in a video. “Being a wicketkeeper, there’s always a problem in the neck region. Due to constantly wearing a helmet while keeping or batting, sometimes the neck muscles become tight or rigid. This is why I have been referred to a medicated pillow so that I can sleep comfortably,” he had said."
