MK Raghavan biography

M K Raghavan, born on April 21, 1952, in Payyannur, Kerala, is a distinguished figure in Indian politics. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for multiple terms.

He was born to Krishnan Nambiar and Janaki Amma. He completed his education in Kerala and embarked on a political journey that would lead him to become a respected leader in Indian politics.

His political journey began in the student organisation, where he held various positions. In 2009, he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Kozhikode. Despite being a stronghold of the LDF, Raghavan managed to secure a victory, albeit by a narrow margin of 838 votes. This victory was attributed to the general anti-CPI (M) wave in the state and the conscience votes of the CPI (M) partner Janata Dal (S), which was denied its sitting seat.

However, his victory was not a one-time phenomenon. He managed to secure his position with much better margins in the subsequent Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and 2019. His victory margins increased from 16,883 in 2014 to a whopping 85,225 in 2019.
