In December 2000, Mohammad Azharuddin was handed a life ban by the BCCI for his involvement in match-fixing. After a long drawn out legal battle, the Andhra Pradesh High Court revoked the ban in 2012.

Mohammad Azhar had been slapped with a life ban for alleged match-fixing in the aftermath of the Cronjegate in 2000. In 2012, however, the Andhra Pradesh High Court held the BCCI action “illegal” and “unsustainable”.
