There will be four scientific payloads on the Vikram lander to study lunar quakes, thermal properties of the lunar surface, changes in the plasma near the surface, and a passive experiment to help accurately measure the distance between Earth and the Moon. The fourth payload comes from NASA. (PTI)

With the mission, India has joined a small and exclusive club of countries that have managed to soft land on the Moon. The Chandrayaan-3 mission is the follow-up to the Chandrayaan-2 mission of 2019, when the Vikram lander crashed into the lunar surface. The primary objective of the mission was simple—showcase the space agency’s capability to complete a soft-landing on the Moon. (PTI)

Addressing ISRO scientists virtually from Johannesburg, PM Modi said Chandrayaan-3’s landing on the moon is a historic moment He added that this is a sign of a developed India and that this success belongs to all of humanity and will help future moon missions of other countries. (PTI)
