The Bihar election campaigns in both the principal Opposition and ruling camps are getting sharper by the day and the attacks are getting meaner. A day after Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi made the ‘dance for votes’ jibe at PM Narendra Modi, the PM hit back at the Congress leader and his ally Tejashwi Yadav from RJD, calling them “corrupt princes”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday came down heavily on the Mahagathbandhan alliance at a public rally in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, a day after Rahul Gandhi attacked PM Modi in the same city. He said Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav were “princes from corrupt families,”
Addressing the rally, Modi said, “…In Bihar’s electoral battle, there is now a pair of young people who consider themselves as Yuvraaj (prince). These two princes have opened shops of false promises. One is the Yuvraaj of India’s most corrupt family, and the other is the Yuvraaj of Bihar’s most corrupt family. Both of them are out on bail in scams worth thousands of crores of rupees.”
He also hit back at both Opposition leaders for their remarks on his work. “These two have been hurling abuses at Modi non-stop. But what else can we expect? Those who are ‘Naamdaar‘ (famous) will obviously insult a ‘Kaamdar‘ (worker). For these naamdaars, their meals won’t get digested until they’ve cursed a kaamdar…,” the prime minister said.
“These naamdaars consider abusing Dalits and the backward classes as their birth right. That’s why they keep scolding me round-the-clock, express their hatred, and hurl abuses at me.”
In a befitting reply to the two leaders, Modi asserted that he has not become the PM because of them. “It is because of the blessings of the general public and the Constitution of Baba Saheb Ambedkar,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi took another dig at the two parties, defining five ‘K’s to describe them. He said, “RJD-Congress can be identified by five Ks. What have the RJD-Congress done? I will tell you about these five words – Katta [country gun], Kroorta [cruelty], Katuta [bitterness], Kushasan [misgovernance], and (K)Corruption… Where there is ‘katta’, where cruelty reigns, there the law breaks down.”
PM Modi also targeted the Mahagathbandhan alliance for the “friendly fights” between RJD and the Congress, saying the matter has emerged as the main focus of the Bihar Assembly elections.
“In this election, the important news is not the abuses that have been hurled at me. Instead, it is the fight between RJD and the Congress within the alliance. Their relationship is visible like oil and water — they are present in the same glass but never meet,” Modi said at the rally.
He added, “There’s news coming from all over Bihar how RJD workers are pulling Congress down and at the same time, Congress workers are also doing the same. Both the princes out on bail have tried to show that there’s no enmity between them…”
Citing surveys, the PM also said, “this election will witness the worst defeat of RJD-Congress. And they are also saying that NDA will secure the biggest victory of all times.”
