Unfazed by US presidential debate, Putin maintains preference for Biden over Trump

“Did we not know what could come? We knew,” Putin was quoted as saying as per a report by Reuters.

The Russian leader acknowledged that he had seen some fragments of the debate, but said he had “enough to do” and paid little attention to partial media reports about it, though he could not ignore it as the US remains a great power.

Putin has previously expressed a preference for Biden over Trump, even after the former referred to him as a “crazy SOB”.

Regarding Trump’s claims that he could end the Ukraine war swiftly if elected, Putin said Russia takes such statements seriously, but he is not familiar with the details of Trump’s proposed peace plans. Putin stated, “The fact that Mr. Trump, as a presidential candidate, declares that he is ready and wants to stop the war in Ukraine, we take this completely seriously. I have no doubt that he means it sincerely, and we support it.”
