The Israel-Hamas war has now entered into its ninth month and the efforts by the Western countries, including by the United Nations Security Council, have fallen flat.
In a series of developments in the past 48 hours, the Israeli administration has ordered the citizens of Gaza City to evacuate signaling another round of continued offensive while also sending cease-fire negotiators to Cairo in order to have extended talks.
Israel’s army chief Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi paid a visit to the Central Gaza on Wednesday and said that the military is operating across the country in different ways in order “to carry out a very important mission: pressure. We will continue operating to bring home the hostages,” as reported by the Associated Press.
In another round of developments, the US built pier in Gaza was to be put back to move aid in the war torn city before it is scheduled to be permanently removed.
But the Pentagon in a statement on Wednesday said that its military personnel did attempt to re-anchor the temporary Gaza pier but were unable to successfully install it due to bad weather and technical issues.
According to Reuters, the Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder said that “At no time did US personnel enter Gaza, and that the pier will soon cease operations, and was always intended as a temporary solution.”
Meanwhile, Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched an airstrike on Wednesday in the narrow Bab el-Mandeb Strait and targeted a Liberian-flagged tanker. The administration acknowledged that this was the longest range aerial attack by the Houthi rebels launched against a US flagged vessel near the Arabian Sea.
According to AP, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said that “vessels and all crew are safe, and the vessel is proceeding to its next port of call.”
Ahead of the crucial November 5 US presidential election, the Iranian government is secretly advancing protests in the US over the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza via social media platforms, the Director of US National Intelligence Avril Haines said.
In a statement, Haines said, “Iran is becoming increasingly aggressive in their foreign influence efforts, seeking to stoke discord and undermine confidence in our democratic institutions.”
The uncertainty over the Middle East crisis is persisting while global affairs are rotating its wheels according to the new global world order wherein multipolarity seems to be ruling over.
