Prakash Mandal, 48, was bitten by a Russell’s Viper, one of the most venomous snakes in the world, on Tuesday evening. Mandal, soon, walked into Bhagalpur’s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College hospital holding the snake as “evidence of bite”. A video of this incident has gone viral.
According to The Hindu, Mandal, a daily wage worker, was bitten by the snake while he was sleeping at his home. He took the snake to the hospital to help doctors immediately identify the species and provide him with the necessary treatment.
The video shows the man entering the hospital with the snake coiled around his neck and its mouth in his hand. Mandal then lies on the floor holding the reptile. Several people, including hospital staff, can be seen filming the scene.

The video, which garnered over 7,41,000 views, prompted numerous reactions. A user wrote, “Brother, this snake is Russell Viper, which has deadly poison, so do not encourage such nonsense.” Another user commented, “This is Bihar, brother, here people apply turmeric on flying birds, then how can a snake dare to bite and run away?”
“Brother, some people die out of fear. Let’s at least acknowledge the man’s courage,” a third user said.
