England racked up 310 runs batting first after half-centuries from Alex Hales, Joe Root and Jos Buttler scored half-centuries before bowlers bowled out New Zealand for 223 to help England win by 87 runs and qualify for the semi-finals.

England beat New Zealand by 87 runs in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and have become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament. England scored a massive 310 batting first and then restricted New Zealand for 223 to seal the win. England lost Jason Roy early after batting first but a big stand between Alex Hales and Joe Root helped them rebuild the innings.
Hales and Root shared 81-run stand for the second and scored fifties each to set the platform for a big score. But rain interrupt the innings. Ben Stokes scored 48 and it was Jos Buttler’s 48-ball 61 that lifted England to 310 before they were all out three balls short of the 50 over. Adam Milne and Corey Anderson took three wickets each.

New Zealand chase was interrupted by rain on several occasions. They were on track for most part of their chase but they lost the track after Kane Williamson’s wicket in the 31st over. The New Zealand played at a decent pace for his 87.
New Zealand were bowled out for 223 in the 45th over. They now have one point from two games with their final game against Bangladesh remaining. Their first game against Australia was washed out due to rain.
