With just days left for the ICC World Cup to be hosted by India for the fourth time, the clamour for tickets for matches, especially those featuring the Indian cricket team, has risen.

Team India will be playing in nine venues across the country, starting from their clash with five-time champion Australia in Chennai on October 8, and playing their last group match against Netherlands in Bengaluru.

The last time India hosted the World Cup, the host nation ended up going all the way to the title. This time too, the hosts are being tipped to be the favourites to claim a title. This had led to a lot of pressure on the Indian players… to provide free tickets!

Team India talisman Virat Kohli pointed this out with a cheeky message on his Instagram Stories where he asked his friends to ‘enjoy the matches from home’.

“As we approach the World Cup, I would humbly like to let all my friends know to not request me for tickets at all through the tournament. Enjoy from your homes please,” he wrote.

In the 10-team tournament, the hosts will be required to finish in the top four in the standings to reach the semi-finals after playing all the other teams once. It is a similar format to the one played in 2019 where India lost to New Zealand in the semifinals in Manchester.
