Welcome back to our quiz guide! January’s lineup is an exciting one for newbies, with plenty of premium events at the city, state and national level for you to dig into. Block your dates, choose your mates, and, if you can, help us figure out why it’s raining IITs and IIMs this month.
IIT Delhi’s Quizzing Cell is hosting three offline team quizzes on January 13 and 14. Registration is paid for outsiders but free for IIT-D students. You can sign up in teams of three on linktr.ee/qciitd. Here’s the schedule:
Now in its twelfth year, KIQF is unleashing 30 quizzes (both online and offline) across three venues in Kolkata. School events are at The Heritage School, college quizzes are at the Heritage Institute of Technology, while open quizzes are at the Calcutta Rowing Club (mornings can be nippy here, grab your monkey caps). The fest runs till January 14.
Registration: Paid for non-school students. For the online quizzes, sign up on knowalledge.com. For offline ones, sign up at your respective venues. Timings, themes and team sizes are on the following poster:
IIM-A will be holding a three-day “quiz bonanza” on campus from January 19 to 21. The lineup has six team events, with certain topics earmarked for school and college/open categories. Prizes worth 2.4 lakhs are up for grabs:

Punjab Engineering College is readying six team events for January 27 and 28 as part of their quiz fest Verve 2024. Topics range from geopolitics to pop culture, giving beginners a decent shot at the Rs 65,000 prize pool if they play to their strengths:

Pune’s Boat Club Quiz Club is hosting four immersive offline quizzes on January 20 and 21. Of particular interest is InFestYouUs, a gameshow-style match where you choose one niche topic to be grilled on. Individuals would be competing against everyone else—the Mob—so this one requires nerves of steel. Find the full schedule on BCQC’s Twitter:
A business-themed treasure hunt, this online quiz by the Delhi School of Economics will give you two hours to crack 20 (we imagine, loaded) questions. Answer formats may differ, so make sure your team pays close attention The winner bags Rs 4000 while the runner-up earns a neat Rs 2000.
Registration: Sign up in B-School teams of up to three on their Unstop page by January 13.
Science students in Kerala can take a shot at the Amrita Chemistry Quiz, a state-level competition for 11th and 12th graders from State/CBSE/ICSE schools. Cash prizes worth Rs 25,000 are in store, plus trophies and certificates for the winners. The dates for prelims aren’t out yet, but with the finals slated for February 9, Round 1 can’t be too far.
Registration: Free. Sign up in teams of two on their form before January 20. The quiz is being organised by the Dept. of Chemistry, School of Physical Sciences, Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus in Kollam.
IIT Madras is hosting five offline quizzes from January 11 to 14 as part of their ongoing cultural fest Saarang. Expecting a footfall of 80,000, the annual Chennai event will also have impressive music: think Farhan Akhtar, Matisse & Sadko, and Thaikkudam Bridge. Quizzes will run in a prelims-plus-finals format on these days:

What’s better than doomscrolling at 2am? Doom-crying on IIM Rohtak’s Literature set, one of six late-night quiz events scheduled for January 20 and 21. Running from 10pm to 3.30am, this unique online contest will change topics every 30 minutes. In order, these are: Music & Entertainment, Sports, Business, History, Literature and a General Quiz.
Registration: Free. Sign up in teams of up to two on their event page by 9.59pm of January 20.
IIT-K has announced dates for the online prelims of Quizzard, a national-level quiz competition pegged as ‘survival of the wittiest’. Round 1 begins on January 17 (5pm) while Round 2, the finale, will be held on January 21 (3pm). Themes will range from news to science to pop culture, with a prize pool of Rs 8000.
Registration: Sign up on their event page in teams of up to three by 4pm of January 17.
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences is inviting entries for Quizzeria, a health quiz whose prelims are slated for February 7. Students pursuing a Master of Hospital Administration, Master of Public Health, Master of Business Administration or MBA in Healthcare Management from any college, as well as students from any medical background, may participate.
Registration: Sign up in teams of two by January 15 on their Unstop page. Inter-college and inter-specialisation teams are allowed.
An online business quiz, The Big Idea is part of IIM’s annual fest Aarunya, and will be split into two parts: the Prelims Quiz (15 mins on business GK) and Business Ideas (PPT submissions). The former will be held on January 17, while the latter must be uploaded between January 19 to 28. The Grand Finale is on February 11, with a prize pool of Rs 25,000 for podium finishers.
