A case has been registered against former Uttar Pradesh CM Kalyan Singh for allegedly asking people to vote on cast lines.

A case has been registered against former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh for allegedly asking people to vote on cast lines during campaigning in neighbouring Fatepur Sikri Lok Sabha constituency.

Police said an FIR had been registered against Singh at Tajgang police station on Thursday under provisions of the Representation of People’s Act-1951.

On Wednesday, the former saffron leader who had recently joined hands with Samajwadi Party, had allegedly asked people to vote on caste lines and appealed to backward communities to unite to show their strength during elections.

Some BSP workers had lodged a complaint in this regard. In his address at Mianpiri village about 20 km from Agra,he had allegedly asked people of Backward Classes, who constitute 62 percentage of the population in the constituency to join together and not let the 18 percent strong Scheduled Caste people dominate them.

Police said the CD of his speech and a copy of the FIR had been sent to the Election Commission on Thursday.
