Kingfisher gets nod for 9 more international flights

Kingfisher Airlines India’s No 2 private carrier, on Wednesday said it received approval from the federal government to operate flights on nine international routes, sending its shares up.

Kingfisher has received approvals to operate Mumbai-London, Kolkata-Dhaka, Kolkata-Chittagong, Mumbai-Hong Kong, Mumbai-Singapore, Chennai-Colombo, Bangalore-Colombo, Bangalore-Bangkok and Mumbai-Bangkok flights, a spokesman said.

“The time frame for launch of these services will be announced progressively,” he added.

He did not specify if the flights would operate on a daily basis. “The details are being worked out,” he said.

The news sent Kingfisher’s shares up as much as 9.8 per cent. They shares are trading up 7.04 per cent at 28.90 rupees.

Kingfisher currently operates daily flights between Bangalore and London, its only foreign route.

The Civil Aviation Ministry had given the nod for Kingfisher to operate in international routes in August this year.
