The Indian airline sector’s inadequacies, particularly pilot shortage, has caught the attention of Manitoba, a state in Canada, home to the country’s aviation hub.

A delegation, under the aegis of Manitoba Trade and Investment, government of Canada, is now in India conducting roadshows on the courses the state’s training schools such as Red River College, Harv’s Air and Winnipeg Aviation offer. Besides Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) courses, these institutes also offer aircraft maintenance certification and aviation management programmes, Bonnie de Moissac, who is leading the delegation, said. The team is also in talks with two business schools in Pune and Chennai to set up aviation faculties, she told reporters on Monday.
