What are the benefits of flax, sesame seeds, and pink salt?
Flaxseeds contain omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B, and Vitamin C, which play a role in reducing hair fall and improving hair growth. It helps soothe the scalp as the omega-3 fatty acids help reduce scalp inflammation.
Also, flaxseeds are rich in biotin, riboflavin, niacin, pyridoxine, pantothenic acid, and folic acid, which are responsible for increasing hair growth and making the hair stronger. Vitamin E present in the seeds diminishes the influence of free radicals on the scalp and strengthens hair follicles.
Sesame seeds improve hair growth and slow down degeneration. These seeds work as a hair tonic (keshya). Black sesame seeds contain vitamin B, and iron, and have antioxidant properties, which reduce greying of hair. Its vitamin E and lignan content nourishes the skin and makes it soft and youthful.
“Modern medicine identifies two types of antioxidants in sesame oil, sesamol, and sesaminol, which help detoxify the body (which is essential when you have suffered from diseases like covid, typhoid, viral fever, etc),” said Dr Dixa.
As per the expert, sesame seeds are bhagna prasadak (good for the bones) and ayurveda considers hair and nails as the by-product of calcium. So sesame, in a way, improves your calcium levels and thereby improves your hair.
Pink salt improves your gut capacity to be able to digest and absorb the nutrients from both flax and sesame seeds. Also, it adds to the taste of the mixture, she said.
Dr Santosh Pandey, acupuncturist and naturopath, Rejua Energy Center, Mumbai said that flaxseeds are packed with good source of B vitamins that helps in promoting stronger and healthier hair. “It even contains vitamin E that reduces the effects of free radicals on the scalp. Sesame seeds can treat bacterial and fungal infections, and they can reduce dandruff and itchiness. So, this combo of seeds keeps the hair nourished and the scalp hydrated and healthier,” said Dr Pandey.
