‘‘Yeh kya budhiya ke baal taange hue hain’: Inside The Traitors winner Nikita Luther’s Goa home

People always notice these lights first. They say things like ‘Wow, so cool!’ But then someone or the other will crack a joke like: ‘Yeh kya, budhiya ke baal taange hue hain?’” Nikita laughs. “Mixed reactions!”

Poker champ and The Traitors winner Nikita Luther isn’t just sharp with her cards. Her taste in design makes her Goa home just as memorable.

“This is a photograph of me with my bestest friends from school. And this is my little brother. He’s six years younger than me… this is when he was a baby,” she tells Mashable India in a home tour video.

The room glows under a set of whimsical, Bali-style lights. “People always notice these lights first. They say things like ‘Wow, so cool!’ But then someone or the other will crack a joke like: ‘Yeh kya, budhiya ke baal taange hue hain?’” she laughs. “Mixed reactions!”

Across the walls are black-and-white photographs Nikita’s clicked herself; snippets of her travels to Antelope Canyon, Yellowstone, and Barcelona. “I converted them to black and white and framed them. I love how they fit into the room’s energy,” she says, gently running her fingers across one.

The design here sits somewhere between Nordic calm and Boho spirit. There’s a unique asymmetric table, minimalist in style. Nearby is a clever little closet, all clean lines and organisation. “I hang everything that creases easily here. Tops, pants… everything has its place.”

Then Luther gestures toward a familiar comfort: “This couch is where I get comfy when I’m confused about what to wear. I sit here and think through all my options… So yeah, this is my ‘thinking couch’.”

And of course, she can’t resist throwing in a Traitors-style twist: “If I had to hold a Traitor-style gossip session on this couch, I would have Sahil with me because Sahil is so sad. He was the first guy to be murdered. He will have a lot to say… bada maza aayega!”

A photo of her father rests on a shelf, while other corners feature her entire family. Her work desk, tucked away in a calm nook, is where she crushes tournaments and handles business. “This is where the magic happens,” she grins. “This is where the money is made.”

The desk overlooks peaceful greenery. “Honestly, I got lucky. This place is so quiet. Just looking out at the trees… all my stress melts away.”

A burst of colour catches the eye—a striking artwork from Vietnam. “It’s a tribal lady with psychedelic hair. I saw it and it reminded me of that playful, crazy side of me. There’s something about it… youthful and wild. I love it.”

Nearby sits a small daybed—perfect for power naps between poker marathons. “Sometimes I just cross off a few things on my to-do list and crash here,” she laughs.

She pauses a moment to reflect. “My mind is a restless place, honestly. I tend to overthink, so I’ve designed this house to help me feel calm. Everything about it is meant to slow me down.”

Then she leads us to her favourite corner of the home: a terrace that opens up completely to the sunset. “The room just becomes one with the terrace. I lie in bed and watch the sun go down. It’s magical.” She addded, “I saw hornbills here once. I couldn’t believe it. These beautiful big-beaked birds… and I thought, ‘Where am I? Is this really India?’ It felt surreal.”

She adds something many might not know: “Goa is actually a bird conservation area. That’s why there are no mobile towers here, it’s intentional. They want to preserve the wildlife. Some people complain about the poor network, but I think it’s a fair trade-off.”

Finally, when asked how she keeps the energy of her home fresh, she shares a small but important ritual: “I air out the house every single day. Sunlight comes in, fresh air flows through. That’s how I keep the energy moving.”
