Sixth swine flu death in the capital

Raj Bala,the deceased,a resident of Faridabad was admitted to the hospital on September 5. According to the doctors,she was diabetic and hypertensive and had a past history of bronchial asthma.

“Her condition had deteriorated by the time she was brought to the hospital. She was suffering for five long days and had not seen any doctor or visited any hospital,” Chaturvedi said adding,”She died because of pulmonary edema as she had developed artificial respiratory distress syndrome.”

The city had reported its fifth swine flu death on Thursday when a 12-year-old girl,Gauri,a resident of Dwarka died at the same hospital.

Earlier,four deaths due to the H1N1 virus have already been reported in the capital since the August end.

While 38-year-old woman,Renu Gupta,a resident of Gurgaon was the first case of death due to swine flu in the city on August 19,31-year-old man,Samrat Pandeya,a resident of Panchsheel Park,died the next day.

This was followed by the death of a 44-year-old a resident of Faridabad,Usha Jain,who succumbed to the virus on August 25 and the fourth case was reported on September 7,with the death of a 69-year-old man,a resident of Panchkuia Road.

Meanwhile,the condition of another 35-year-old man admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on September 6 is reported to be critical.
