Most celebrities lead a disciplined lifestyle and consume healthy and balanced meals. Rakul Preet Singh is no different. The I Love You actor recently detailed her diet to Ranveer Allahabadia, saying: “My day starts with hot water, and then I have cinnamon water or turmeric water. Then I have 5 soaked almonds, one soaked walnut, and my ghee coffee.”

Depending on when she finishes her workout, Singh has a protein smoothie. “I do a heavy breakfast, which would be eggs with poha or sprouts ka cheela.” She continued, “Lunch would be rice or jowar roti with sabzi and some fish or chicken protein. My snack for 4.30-5 pm would be protein chia seeds pudding, fruit and yogurt, or a peanut butter toast, and nuts when I am on a shoot.”

She further shared that she tries to finish her dinner by 7 pm “with some form of carb (lesser carb than afternoon), protein, and sabzi.”

Taking a cue, let’s understand the benefits of having an early dinner.

According to Dr Sukhvinder Singh Saggu, director, minimal access, GI and bariatric surgery at the CK Birla Hospital, Delhi, eating between sunrise and sunset is believed to promote better digestion, higher metabolism, and a healthier gut microbiome compared to eating late at night when the body’s physical activity is lesser.

“It is suggested to consume your first meal around 1.5 hours after waking up and your last meal 2-3 hours before bedtime. This could involve a moderate breakfast, a larger lunch, and an early dinner before sunset,” said Dr Saggu.

According to the expert, potential benefits include improved metabolism, better blood sugar control, and favourable cholesterol levels, with higher HDL (good) and lower LDL (bad) cholesterol.

Moreover, it may aid in weight loss and reduce the risk of chronic diseases, added Dr Saggu.

What to consider?

Dr Vinoda Kumari, deputy chief medical officer, Jindal Naturecure Institute shared the following tips:

*Choose light, nutrient-dense foods that provide continuous energy and satiety. This helps avoid overeating.

*It’s critical to watch meal sizes and refrain from mindless eating.

*Always consider how hungry you feel and go for snacks that will help you reach your dietary objectives.

*Stay hydrated, as sometimes dehydration can be mistaken for hunger.
