Meghan Markle leaves internet divided over adding this one ingredient for fluffier scrambled eggs

Meghan Markle recently teamed up with her friends for her new Netflix cooking show With Love, Meghan where she can be seen whipping up some recipes for her guests. During one such effort, she shared that she swears by a particular hack to get the perfect scrambled eggs. In the fourth episode of the eight-part series, The Duchess of Sussex shared with Korean-American chef Roy Choi that she uses sparkling water for a fluffier texture.

The discussion began with their attempt to make Korean Fried Chicken, during which Choi added sparkling water to the batter. “Does the sparkling water just help make the batter extra crisp?” Markle asked, to which Choi responded, “Yes, exactly.”

She then went on to share how she uses sparkling water. “Do you ever put cold sparkling water in your eggs before you scramble them?” she asked Choi, adding, “Same sort of effect: It helps them rise, get a little fluffy, it’s great. Just a tiny little splash.”

However, the internet didn’t take kindly to Meghan’s comment with many seemingly divided.

One wrote, “With wack ‘tips’ like this-sparkling water in scrambled eggs? Any kind of water in eggs is vile. Idk what kind of tap water #MeghanMarkle’s been dealing with but it’s the freezing process that makes the ice cubes clear, so go off. She’s so weird. #MeghanMarkleExposed”.

Another remarked, “Among the royal’s most bizarre tips for ordinary people is adding sparkling water to scrambled eggs to make them more ‘fluffy’ and lathering towels in lavender oil to ‘treat yourself after a long day at work’.”

When has Meghan ever done a hard day’s work!? Who wants to ruin their towels with oils!? This woman is insane!”

But others were all for trying the hack. “This #WithLoveMeghanOnNetflix video put a smile on my face. What a lovely couple! I’m going to try the sparkling water in scrambled eggs to make them fluffy, as recommended in #WithLoveMeghan.”

I put sparkling water in my eggs a la Megan Sussex and they came out super fluffy, wrote another.

But what do experts say?

Chef Shipra Khanna concurred that adding sparkling water to scrambled eggs can make them fluffier. “The carbonation in sparkling water creates tiny air bubbles, making the eggs lighter when cooked. Using about a tablespoon of sparkling water per egg works well. Cooking them over low heat and stirring gently also helps keep them soft and fluffy,” said Khanna, adding that plain water just works fine if you don’t have sparkling water.
