It’s the season for mangoes! I don’t know how I can say that at the top of my voice in writing. I love mangoes and I am yet to meet someone who doesn’t. I always make mango and lime cooler to welcome the mango season when they are not very sweet yet but as tempting as ever. Black salt (which is actually pinkish in colour) is a mineral rich salt added to most drinks in India for its cooling properties but if you don’t have black salt, you can simply add regular salt or coarse sea salt.

Mango and Lime Cooler
Preparation Time: 15 mins | Serves: 2

Ingredients
2 ripe mangoes (it’s okay if they are not so sweet)
Juice of 1 lime
3 tbsp- Castor sugar
1/2 tsp- Black pepper
1/2 tsp- Black salt
1/2 tsp- Cumin powder
1 cup- Fresh mint leaves

Method
*Peel the mango and cut into chunks. Discard the stone.

*Put the chopped mango in a blender along with all other ingredients and 500 ml water. Blitz until smooth.

*Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour in the mango cooler. Enjoy!

Food is never just food. I believe it’s story telling, it’s conversation. It brings people together and it speaks a universal language! I love to play around in my kitchen. The thrill of being able to create something new and sharing it with others is what fuels my passion for cooking. The fact that dear husband is a foodie and an honest critique helps!
