Gauahar Khan has been quite impressive with her commitment to getting back in shape post embracing motherhood in May this year. The actor who has been nursing her newborn baby boy has been consistently sharing snippets from her fitness journey. As such, the 39-year-old recently shared a mirror selfie from the gym after a quick 20-minute workout despite being fatigued.
“Really lazy and fatigued today! But still pushed in 20 minutes,” shared Khan in an Instagram Stories post.
How important is it to work out postpartum?
Consistency is key when it comes to reaping the benefits of a 20-minute workout, said Bala Krishna Reddy Dabbedi, fitness expert, Co-founder, and director at FITTR.
“It may seem short, but with the right approach, it can be highly effective. Whether for general fitness or postpartum recovery, focus on a well-rounded routine that combines cardiovascular and strength exercises. Keep in mind your individual needs and consult with a healthcare provider or postnatal specialist for guidance during the recovery phase,” said Dabbedi.
According to Dabbedi, it is essential to prioritise exercises that promote core stability, pelvic floor strength, and flexibility.
“It is important to listen to your body and gradually increase intensity, and avoid overexertion. Remember, it’s a gradual process, so be patient with yourself. Embrace the power of consistency, proper form, and a progressive approach to unlock the full benefits of your 20-minute workout,” said Dabbedi.
This is not the first time that Khan shared a glimpse from her time in the gym.
Recall that Khan shared that she lost 10 kgs in 10 days (and later 13 kgs in a matter of 15 days).
“Lost 10 kgs in 10 days postpartum! Alhamdulliah! Six more to go!” wrote Khan, who delivered her first child with her husband Zaid Darbar.
Experts urge that while setting realistic goals is the way forward for new mothers, it is better to take the help of an expert who will guide them regarding the diet. “You will have to stick to a well-balanced diet, inclusive of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, pulses, lentils, and legumes. It is essential to stay away from junk, oily, canned, and processed foods. Say no to sodas, colas, sweets, and desserts. Drink enough water to stay hydrated,” said Dr Pratima Thamke, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar in an earlier interaction.
