Indian wear ruled B-town style this past week, with many festivals like Raksha Bandhan and Onam being celebrated. Celebs made fashionable statements with their designer outfits. Stars like Jacqueline Fernandez and Mira Kapoor took the glam quotient a notch higher this week in their striking appearances as they stepped out in the city. However, some celebrities such as Kriti Sanon and Shilpa Shetty failed to make a mark.
Take a look at who hit the bullseye with their outfits and who missed the memo this week!
We adored the wedding-inspired Indian wear look that Mira Kapoor recently shared on Instagram. The indigo blue Raw Mango cotton silk sari worn by Mira had gota patti appliqué floral patterns on the pallu and gold taar stitching on the borders.
She wore an indigo blue blouse that matched the graceful draping. A choker necklace, statement rings, a bracelet, a gold potli bag decorated with elaborate embroidery and tassel ties, and high heels completed the traditional ensemble.
Despite the fact that we generally adore Kriti’s looks, this one disappointed us greatly.
Kriti was dressed in an ivory-white blouse with long sleeves and strong shoulders that was decorated with geometric netted motifs. We love a great power shoulder moment but here it falls flat and takes away from the beauty of the outfit.
At the 80th Venice International Film Festival in 2023, Jacqueline Fernandez walked on the red carpet looking stunning in ivory.
The sweetheart neckline dress was embellished with delicate threadwork and decorations. With its billowy sleeves and exquisite needlework, the cape that it was worn with gave Jacqueline’s outfit a note of drama.
Shilpa Shetty’s collection of saris is one to die for. Except for the one she recently wore. Although credit where credit is due, Shetty isn’t one to be afraid to try out novel forms and silhouettes. So, it is normal to occasionally fail in experiments like these.
Shilpa’s chanderi silk sari was pearl-white in colour and had borders embroidered with floral appliques in red and yellow. But the scalloped hems and the red and green thread embroidery on the pallu were features we really despised. If that had been dropped, the sari could have worked.
Malavika Mohanan embodied elegance and glamour wearing a traditional kasavu sari for Onam, channeling her inner diva. The Christy actor customised the white and gold sari by pairing it with a sleeveless blouse. She added jhumkas and bangles as accessories, and a plait adorned with mogra blooms finished off her fashionable outfit.
Nushrratt’s look left much to be desired. The actor wore a crop top with an elaborately embroidered neckline, along with a wrap skirt and a matching cape with similar embroidery. The short hemline and the black PVC heels made the outfit look worse, even though the garment itself isn’t that dreadful.
