Two groups of Nepali citizens engaged in a violent clash during Holi celebrations at the iconic Lalbagh botanical garden in Bengaluru on Friday evening.
A video of the altercation, which occurred under the Siddapura police station limits, went viral on social media.
Following the incident, locals gathered outside Siddapura police station on Sunday, demanding the arrest of all those involved in the clash.
According to the authorities, the two groups were playing Holi when an argument escalated into a scuffle. The members of the two groups began attacking each other with sticks and water bottles. The exact cause of the brawl remains unknown, they added.
The sudden violence alarmed visitors at the popular tourist spot. The situation was brought under control after Horticulture Department officials alerted the police. Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) personnel were also deployed to restore order.
“A case has been registered, and three arrests were made on Saturday. Efforts are underway to apprehend others involved,” a senior police officer said.
