1st Friday after Eid-e-Milad Bank Holiday 2025: Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi, observed on September 5 to commemorate the birth and death anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad, makes the first Friday following the festival particularly significant.
As a result, banks in some parts of India will be closed today, Friday, 12 September, on account of this (the first Friday after Eid-e-Nabi), as designated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its 2025 holiday calendar.
In September, there are a total of 15 bank holidays designated for September 2025, determined by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) under the Negotiable Instruments Act, including RTGS holidays and other regional and national holidays, in addition to mandatory weekly days off on the second Saturday and Sunday of each month.
It’s essential to note that banks in two Indian cities will be closed, while the remaining ones will remain operational as usual. Below is the table of bank status for today, Friday, September 12, 2025:
