Businessman Robert Vadra appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) again on Wednesday after a six-hour questioning on Tuesday. The husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is being grilled in a 2008 Haryana land deal linked case of alleged money laundering.
“I’m here for any kind of unjust pressure. I believe in the truth, and truth will prevail,” Vadra posted on Facebook.
Priyanka accompanied Robert Vadra to the ED office. Earlier on Tuesday, the 56-year-old Vadra had termed the ED action “political vendetta”.
Ahead of his questioning, Vadra said that whenever he “will speak up for people and make them heard, they will try to suppress me”.
“There is nothing in the case. For the last twenty years, I have been summoned 15 times and interrogated for more than 10 hours every time. I have submitted 23,000 documents,” he added.
“When I speak in favour of the people, for the minorities and for the failure of government, I am stopped. This is political vendetta,” he had said on Tuesday, adding: “People love me and want me to join politics… When I express my willingness to join politics, they bring up old issues to bring me down and divert from the real issues…”
Vadra was earlier summoned by the agency on April 8 but did not appear. A second summons was then issued for Tuesday. “Recently, we got some new facts during our investigation and want to confront him with these facts. Once he appears before the ED, the agency will record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA),” a source said.
