With just two days left for the verdict on Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute,Karnataka government today declared September 24 and 25 as holidays for all the educational institutions in the state as a preventive measure.
He said he would hold a meeting of all political leaders and religious heads to seek their cooperation in maintaining communal harmony,peace,law and order.
Expressing happiness over the the large attendance of legislators and party workers during the ceremony held to induct six new ministers,The Chief Minister said this had send a strong message that the party was united.
Meanwhile,he said Boards and Corporations where posts were vacant would be filled up after consulting BJP state unit president K S Eswarappa.
Meanwhile,Home Minister Dr V S Acharya told reporters that police and home guards were being mobilised for deployment for maintaining peace and order.
Police would also be assessing the situation in senstive areas of Hassan,Uudpi,Bangalore,Mangalore and Hubli and if necessary promulgate prohibitory orders in such localities.
Authorities in District and Taluk level have been directed to hold peace committee meetings involving all sections of the society and seek their cooperation in maintaing communal harmony,Acharya said.
We have enought personnel. We are confident of maintaining peace and amity. The state has not witnessed any communal flareup in the last two years,Acharya said.
Bangalore Police clamped prohibitory orders for three days from September 24 as a precautionary measure.
The order will be in force from 6 am of September 24 till the midnight of Sept 26,a police press release said.
Police also ordered closure of Indian-made foreign liquor outlets in the city for two days from September 24.
