Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday targeted the Congress central leadership in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh over the Sanatan Dharma row, saying that India was not Babar’s nation and challenged former chief minister Kamal Nath that if he indeed was a Hanuman devotee then he should set 10 Janpath on fire like Hanuman set Lanka on ablaze.

Sarma was speaking at the Jan Ashirwad rally in Vidhisha district when he spoke about DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks, calling for the eradication of Sanatan Dharma.

Sarma said the Opposition’s INDIA bloc members made statements equating the “Hindu religion to malaria”. “Congress party knows that this country has 80 per cent Hindus, still they say that Hindu is malaria and AIDS and Hindu religion should be eradicated…I know this one thing Rahul ji, you can become a Hindu Hriday Samrat if you remove those people who are giving such statements against Hinduism from your party. I want to challenge Kamal Nath, if you are a Hanuman Bhakt, Hanuman burnt Lanka, you should burn 10 Janpath. Go there and say those who are giving statements against Hinduism, you should remove such people otherwise you should burn 10 Janpath,” Sarma said.

The Congress in MP has been playing the Hindutva card to shield itself from BJP attacks, which has routinely tried to portray it as an anti-Hindu party. The Congress’s Hindutva tilt has included its state president and CM face Kamal Nath portraying himself as a Hanuman devotee, holding religious events, and setting up a massive Hanuman idol on his political turf Chhindwara.

Sarma said the “Congress party is very dangerous for our Hindu society” and questioned the opposition party over why the Ram Mandir was not constructed during their rule. “Kamalnath says that he is Hanuman Bhakt. What was the main work of Hanuman ? The worship of Ram. He doesn’t see anything apart from Ram. You are a Hanuman Bhakt, you were a minister in Delhi. Why was the Ram Mandir not constructed in Ayodhya during your time?”

“You should not have to wait for Narendra Modi. We removed Babar and today a Ram Mandir is made, Hindu is happy and Muslim is happy. These Hanuman bhakts are scared of Babar. Our demand is only one, this nation is of Ram, Lakshman, Sita this is not Babar’s nation, and in Ram Janmabhoomi, Babar’s masjid won’t exist. There are many lands in India to make a masjid, but in Ram’s land only Ram Lala will sit, no one else will sit,” he said.
