2 Undertrials killed in police encounter,another absconding

A police last night killed undertrials Kulwinder Singh and Nahar Singh who had escaped from police custody on April 25 night after killing head constable Avtar Singh and injuring constable Mandeep Singh. The third undertrial Jaswinder Singh however is still absconding.

The trio had escaped from police custody near Maisar Khana in Bathinda after they were being brought from Panchkular to Bathinda jail after a trail court hearing. They had killed the constable with his self loaded rifle(SLR) and even had ran away after taking the SLR along. Police was on high alert since April 25 night and even villagers had been doing night vigil. The trio were found in village Behniwal in Mansa district last night where Kulwinder and Nahar were killed in encounter. They were wanted in more than 15 robberies and police had even announced Rs 1 lakh each prize money on them yesterday.
