The government has come out with new rules that say state-level officers suspended for corruption or discipline should not be reinstated in the same revenue division and should be given non-executive postings. Suspended divisional and district-level officers cannot be reinstated in divisions/districts they were last posted in.

“Officers facing criminal cases or suspended for disciplinary reasons are sometimes reinstated in the same areas they were earlier posted in or are given important positions tarnishing the reputation of the government,” a senior state officer said. The state has asked all departments to make a list of non-executive postings in the bureaucracy. The list will come in handy for the government to ensure officers reinstated after suspensions are provided non-executive postings.
