Sri Lankan gets 5 years in jail for terror plot

The case was taken up for framing of charges on Thursday during which Hussain pleaded guilty.

An NIA special court Friday sentenced Mohammed Sakir Hussain to five years imprisonment and a fine under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act for conspiring terrorist attacks on the US Consulate in Chennai and Israel Embassy in Bangalore, and circulating fake Indian currency .

The NIA had filed a chargesheet against Hussain, Sivabalan and Mohammed Saleem before the special NIA court in Poonamallee, Chennai on October 23. The case was taken up for framing of charges on Thursday during which Hussain pleaded guilty.

According to NIA, Sri Lankan national Hussain conspired with one Amir Subair Siddique, working in Pakistan High Commission at Colombo and his ‘Boss’ alias Shah, to cause explosions at the US Consulate and Israel Embassy for their allegedly anti-Muslim stance.
