In yet another setback to controversial self-styled Godman Asaram Bapu ,the Supreme Court on Monday rejected his plea seeking to restrain media from covering out its own trial against him.

Asaram Bapu, arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a minor, had on October 8 approached the apex court to stop the media from reporting on trial against him.

The matter was mentioned before a bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam which asked him to file a proper petition and posted it for hearing for today.

Appearing for the controversial spiritual guru, senior advocate Vikas Singh submitted before the bench that media should be restrained from doing a trial otherwise he will not get a fair trial. The counsel said that Asaram had no objection if media correctly reported the court proceedings, but it should be restrained from carrying speculative reports portraying his ashrams as some kind of brothels.

72-year-old spiritual leader was arrested in August on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl and has been in prison at Jodhpur in Rajasthan since then.
