Dismissed Punjab DSP Bhola’s aide held with drug making chemical

Punjab Police Tuesday arrested an international drug smuggler and dismissed DSP Jagdish Singh Bhola’s close aide Devender Singh alias Happy in connection with the Zirakpur drug haul case in which the name of Olympic bronze medallist boxer Vijender Singh had cropped up.

Fatehgarh Sahib: Punjab Police Tuesday arrested an international drug smuggler and dismissed DSP Jagdish Singh Bhola’s close aide Devender Singh alias Happy in connection with the Zirakpur drug haul case in which the name of Olympic bronze medallist boxer Vijender Singh had cropped up. They also recovered 8.5 kg ephedrine,a chemical used for preparing heroin,worth Rs 8.50 crore from him.

Happy was arrested after the police found the ephedrine concealed in a plastic bag during a checking of his car,a Mahindra Qualis,on Chandigarh road,Fatehgarh Sahib SSP,H S Mann said.

Two driving licenses were also recovered from him and one was found to be fake. The genuine license was issued by Bhatinda District Transport Office and his date of birth was mentioned as August 3,1986,the SSP said,adding that happy is a resident of Thermal Colony,Lehra Mohabat,Bathinda.

The SSP said that during interrogation Happy confessed that he had close relations with NRI drug supplier Anoop Singh Kahlon,Jagdish Singh Bhola and Sarabjit Singh and he was involved in drug trafficking and hawala with them.

According to the SSP,the Qualis recovered from Happy belongs to Sarabjit on whose instance he was on way to deliver the consignment of ephedrine.

Sarabjit is a dismissed employee of the Punjab police and is said to be a close associate of Jagdish Bhola. He along with Bhola are on the run. Happy is the 17th accused to be arrested following recovery of 26 kgs of heroin worth over Rs 100 crore from the Kahlon’s house at Zirakpur .

A case under various sections of the IPC and under the provisions of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused at Fatehgarh Sahib police station.

Money laundering: ED raids offices

Chandigarh: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday raided several places in Chandigarh,following money laundering cases registered in connection with the narcotics haul from the residence of NRI drug dealer Anoop Singh Kahlon on March 3. According to sources,while the ED arrested the owner of Manchanda Money Exchanger at Sector 32 and rounded up several others,Rs 45 lakh was recovered during the raids. The owner has reportedly confessed that he had been laundering Rs 7 to 8 crore belonging to dismissed Punjab DSP Jagdish Singh Bhola,kingpin of the Fatehgarh Sahib drug haul case. Meanwhile,the ED also reportedly raided Budhiraja Store,a toy store at Sector 17 and Bajaj Enterprises in the city. More places were being raided at the time of filing of this report.
