Senior BJP leader Madhu Chavan,accused of rape,resigned from party Friday. BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said resignation had been accepted. A couple of days ago,a former BJP women wing leader had lodged a police complaint Chavan raped and cheated her. Chavan told party he was being framed. However,to guard party image,he was asked to quit. Sources said,“We are not saying he is guilty. Moreover,the woman left BJP almost a year-and-a-half ago.”
