Manohar Lal Khattar to meet PM Narendra Modi, says no royalty

Khattar, who was in Shimla, told media that after Supreme Court decision, Punjab was only trying to create confusion and address its votebank in the run-up to the state assembly polls.

He also rejected the Punjab demand for royalty over the water as this issue, he said, was not in the domain of the state government. “It’s not Punjab’s property, and thus the state has no claim for royalty on the water,” he said.

Khattar also termed the stand taken by the Congress in Punjab as a poll gimmick. “I have held a meeting with the political parties in the state and soon will seek time from the PM and President and seek intervention to end the deadlock,” he said.
