Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah Sunday trained his guns at the Opposition parties for indulging in “dynastic politics”.
“In this country, we have 2G, 3G and 4G parties. 2G doesn’t mean the scam… it’s two-generation party, three-generation party, four-generation party. Till four generations, the leader doesn’t change. Why? Is there no capable youth in the country? Can’t he come forward,” Shah said at the BJP’s national convention.
Likening the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls to the Mahabharata, Shah said, “This election is like the Mahabharat battle between Pandavas and Kauravs… it is between Modi-led NDA vs Congress-led dynastic parties. It’s between NDA vs Ghamandia alliance.”
Shah referred to Opposition leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Lalu Prasad, Mamata Banerjee and M K Stalin and said, “While PM Modi thinks of the poor and the country’s development, INDIA bloc leaders think of making their children prime minister and chief ministers.”
All the family “princes” have come together against Modi as they think only someone from a powerful family can occupy the top position, the Home Minister said.
“Had the BJP been a dynastic party, a son of a tea seller would have never become the prime minister of this country,” he said.
Asserting that the people will choose Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a third term, Shah said, “Under Modi’s third term, the country will get completely free of terrorism and naxalism. The government will provide welfare for the farmers and develop the economy.”
“Modi has liberated from corruption, casteism, family politics, appeasement politics and brought in politics of performance,” Shah said.
“For the first time, the poor in the country, who had been used by INDI parties, are getting respect under Modi’s government,” he added.
On Saturday, the BJP passed a political resolution, lauding PM Modi for “effectively implementing the concept of Ram Rajya” and for taking the Indian economy from the “Fragile five” to the “Top five” in the past 10 years.
PM Modi, on his part, addressed the BJP’s national office-bearers ahead of the start of the party’s convention and asked them to build its Lok Sabha poll campaign around pro-poor work.
