This year, according to the official NTA calendar, the JEE Main 2023 Session 1 exam are scheduled to take place on January 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31 and February 1. The exam scheduled for Janaury 27 has been rescheduled to February 1 by the agency. The second session will be held in the month of April.

This year, the JEE Main 2023 exam was surrounded by a lot of controversies. When the NTA announced the JEE Main 2023 exam dates, aspirants expressed their displeasure over the exam dates. They protested that the NTA should have given them more time to prepare and claimed that the engineering entrance exam is clashing with their pre-board exams, practical exams, vivas, etc. The matter was even heard in the Bombay High Court, along with the issue of bringing back the eligibility criterion of 75 per cent marks in class 12 board exams for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. There is no age limit for candidates to appear for JEE Main 2023. Any student who has passed class 12 or equivalent in 2021, 2022 or appearing in 2023 can appear for JEE Main 2023 irrespective of their age. However, they will have to fulfil the age criteria of the institution they want to take admission in.
Candidates belonging to PwD category will get 20 minutes extra per session than other candidates, i.e. they can complete the paper in 4 hours instead of 3 hours.

There will be a total of 90 questions for 300 marks. In the MCQs, every correct answer will fetch you 4 marks, while for every incorrect answer one mark will be deducted. There would be 0 mark for the question left unattempted or unanswered. The marking scheme is similar for for questions for which the answer is a numerical value.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had launched a mobile application, “National Test Abhyas”, on which candidates can find mock tests for various competitive exams, including JEE Main. FOr this year, too, JEE aspirants can download the app to practice mock tests.

Till now, the NTA has only released admit cards of January 24. It is expected that the agency wll release hall tickets for January 25 exam today, i.e. January 23.
Once released, candidates can download the admit card by following these steps

Step 3: Enter your credentials such as application number, date of birth and security pin

Each subject will have two sections- Section A and B. Section will have 20 questions and section B will have 10 questions, there will be a total of 90 questions for three subjects. Each subject will be for 100 marks, bringing the total to a maximum of 300 marks. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and section B will contain questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be negative marking for both sections. For each question in Section B, a candidate has to enter the correct integer value of the answer using the mouse and the on-screen virtual numeric keypad in the place designated to enter the answer. For section B, the answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.
How to answer the MCQs
– To select your answer, click on the button of one of the options.
– To deselect your chosen answer, click on the button of the chosen option again or click on the Clear Response button.
– To change your chosen answer, click on the button of another option.
– To save your answer, you must click on the Save and Next button
– To mark the question for review, click on the ‘Mark for Review and Next' button.
– To change your answer to a question that has already been answered, first select that question for answering and then follow the procedure for answering that type of question.

For the 9 am to 12 pm shift, candidates have to report between 7 am to 8:30 am. The instructions will be given the candidates from 8:30 am to 8:50 am and candidates have to log in at 8:50 to read the instructions. For the 3 pm to 6:30 pm shift, they will have to report from 1 pm to 2:30 pm, the instructions will be given from 2:30 pm to 2:50 pm and then the students will log in and read instructions from 2:50 pm.
